GARNACHO NOW HOTTER THAN RON!
ALEJANDRO GARNACHO is busy putting Cristiano Ronaldo in the shade – by becoming the most sought-after player at Old Trafford.
Manchester United are struggling to offload first-team stars like Ronaldo, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Phil Jones – but they’ve been bombarded with loan offers for exciting teenage attacker Garnacho (left).
Veteran star Ronaldo wants to leave United for Champions League football but so far there have been no concrete offers for the iconic striker who returned to Old Trafford last season in a £12.9million deal with Juventus. But while Ronaldo and his agent Jorge Mendes wait for an offer, Garnacho can take his pick.
The 18-year-old Spanish-born winger, who has chosen to play for Argentina, has attracted interest from more than TWENTY teams across England, Spain, Germany, Italy and Scotland – with clubs banking on United sending the youngster out on loan to toughen up and gain first-team experience.
New United boss Erik ten Hag is a huge fan of Garnacho, who starred against La Liga side Rayo Vallecano in United’s final pre-season game before today’s visit by Brighton. But Ten Hag is weighing up whether he can give the youngster enough game time to accelerate his development.
The United boss is considering whether the environment is right for Garnacho to flourish while United’s senior players find themselves adapting to his new regime after their disappointing campaign of underachievement last season.
The Dutchman has hinted that fans will have to be patient while he gets his message over to United’s stars – and it might not be a smooth ride.
That’s left the door open for Garnacho to go out on loan, at least until January.
Garnacho’s agent Eugenio Ascari held talks with United last week, with other clubs lining up to take the winger on loan before the summer window closes on September 1.
But United have not made a final decision on the teenager’s immediate future, with some senior figures believing the club should keep him in-house for a bit longer and make a call in the January window.
Garnacho has been seen as a potential star of the future since United surprisingly grabbed him from Atletico Madrid in 2020.
After signing professional terms last year, he excelled for the Under-18s as United won the FA Youth Cup this May, and scored twice in the final in a 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest.
