Demos begin across the land
THOUSANDS besieged Westminster yesterday as demos took place across the country over issues ranging from climate change to the cost of living and the mini-budget.
Protestors blocked traffic on four bridges in London including Westminster and Waterloo before gathering in Parliament Square.
The turnout included pressure groups such as Just Stop Oil, CND and Insulate Britain. The London demo was one of more than 50 held in cities, towns and villages. Enough Is Enough demos against energy bills and the cost of living took place in Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Bristol, Newcastle and Leeds.
There were ritual burnings of energy bills in Birmingham and at King’s Cross station. Just Stop Oil organisers have vowed to blockade
Westminster every day until they get a response to calls to stop all new oil and gas exploration.
At the London demo, former Labour leader
Jeremy Corbyn told us: “Record breaking weather is happening everywhere and everything is too expensive. That’s the crisis.”
