Power crash primary kids hit local pub
FORTY pupils and staff tucked in to pub grub after a power cut hit their school just before lunch.
Acting head Damien Bond and landlady Shirley Amesbury came up with the emergency plan to feed hungry kids from Holme Junior and Infant School in Holmfirth, West Yorks.
Shirley and her team at the Fleece Inn served sausage and mash, scampi, chips and chicken goujons.
Then school staff showed their appreciation by mucking in with the washing up.
Damien said: “We were very grateful. It shows the community spirit that we have here in Holme.
“Ultimately it gives our children unique learning experiences that cannot necessarily be fostered in many other schools.”
