Man quizzed over death of pub musician
A MAN has been arrested and bailed in connection with the death of a pub performer who died two weeks after an assault.
Bill Witham, 68, who sometimes used the stage name Napper Swan, was found injured and unconscious following an attack outside a house.
He died last Sunday. A 33-year-old man was questioned on suspicion of grievous bodily harm in connection with the death.
Police believe he was attacked in Rochford, Essex, before being found five miles away.
Mr Witham’s family said in a statement: “He was a much-loved character with a big heart and an even bigger smile.
“He will be missed by all his friends and family and forever be in our hearts.”
