I am an avid listener of podcasts and I came across one on understanding our gut health.
It educated me on the importance of the 10 trillion bacteria which live in communities in different areas of our intestines and colon, and are known as microbiota.
I was fascinated to learn about the close relationship between the gut, brain and skin, how they are intrinsically linked and how a poor diet and stress can negatively impact the diversity of the microbiota, which can lead to obesity, IBS, fatigue, sugar cravings, skin issues – the list goes on.
The good news is you can improve your gut microbiota by eating more plant-based foods and probiotics (found in yoghurts), and including exercise into your lifestyle, getting enough sleep and reducing stress.
