Making light work of hike

-

A MAN who hiked nearly 9,000 miles to visit every lighthouse in Britain, has finally put his feet up.

It took Jim Morton 537 days to cover all 8,903 miles. But the 62-year-old Royal Navy veteran ticked off 243 lighthouses and helped raise cash for the Gurkha Welfare Trust.

Jim, of Penistone, South Yorks, was just seven when saw the seaside structures in his dad’s AA road atlas and decided to visit them all. He said: “I’ve achieved my life-long ambition.”
