GIO & CO IN CRUISE MODE BEFORE CL

-

RANGERS warmed up for the Battle of Britain Champions League clash with Liverpool by thumping Hearts 4-0 yesterday.

An Antonio Colak double put Rangers in control before Cammy Devlin’s wild lunge on Gers’ Rabbi Matondo earned a first-half red.

That allowed Rangers to cruise home as substitute Alfredo Morelos and then ex-Reds winger Ryan Kent struck in the closing stages.

Gers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst said: “It’s a positive for us before we switch back to Europe.

“It was important to get the start we had here with the win and now we have a couple of days to prepare for a big game at Liverpool.”

The Dutchman must now decide whether to play two-goal Croatian striker Colak or turn to Morelos, following his cameo off the bench here, at Anfield.

Van Bronckhorst added: “Antonio’s performance was really good. He gives energy to the team and I’m really happy for him.

“Another two goals for him and it’s also really positive that Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent scored because we need goals from all over the team.”

Colak (left) said: “Going to Anfield will be a difficult game but we just want to focus on ourselves and see what we can get out of it.”
