Hot Ben is Rover the moon

BEN BRERETON DIAZ returned home from international duty to hammer in what proved to be the crucial winner for Blackburn.

The man they call BBD made no mistake as he cracked in his fifth goal of the season to give Rovers their sixth Championship victory.

His goal came just six minutes after young Tyrhys Dolan had put Blackburn in front when he took advantage of a mix-up in the Millwall defence to steer a right-foot shot past keeper George Long.

Millwall skipper Jake

Cooper pulled one back with a close-range header, and record signing Zian Flemming hit over late on with an acrobatic kick.

But Rovers held out to move into the top six and boss Jon Dahl Tomasson said: “We want to make this place a fortress, and that’s four home wins now.”

Lions boss Gary Rowett rushed off to prepare for running in the London Marathon, but his assistant Adam Barrett admitted: “Another error gifted them their opening goal. We’ve had too many, and we have to cut them out. We want a reaction.”

Brereton Diaz looked fresh and a real threat even though he had travelled to Spain and then Austria for international friendlies.

For the Lions, Benik Afobe was robbed by Ryan Hedges when he broke through, then shot over after being fed beautifully by Callum Styles.
