Bell doesn’t have a ball as skipper

BORUSSIA DORTMUND lost 3-2 against FC Koln in Jude Bellingham’s first game as captain to squander the chance to move to the Bundesliga summit.

Dortmund missed a glut of chances before Julian Brandt opened the scoring for them after good work from Bellingham.

But the hosts responded with two goals in three minutes from Florian Kainz and Steffen Tigges after the break.

Dejan Ljubicic curled in a superb third for the hosts before a Benno Schmitz own goal set up a nervy finale.

Bellingham, who is in his third season at Dortmund, was handed the captain’s armband with Mats Hummels and Marco Reus both sidelined. The results leaves Dortmund fourth in the German top flight, two points behind leaders Union Berlin who lost 2-0 at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Champions Bayern, who hammered Leverkusen 4-0 on Friday night, sit in third.

In Serie A, England defender Chris Smalling (left) scored Roma’s winner in their 2-1 victory at Inter.

With Jose Mourinho serving a touchline ban, the Roma boss saw Smalling’s 75th-minute winner sink his former club at the San Siro.

Federico Dimarco fired Inter ahead before Paulo Dybala struck and Smalling header then won it.

Elsewhere, leaders Napoli beat Torino 3-1.
