LIBBY MUM: I WANT ANSWERS FROM MY DAUGHTER’S KILLER
Mother to quiz fiend over girl’s final moments
THE mum of murdered student Libby Squire plans to meet her daughter’s killer face to face to find out exactly how she died.
Heartbroken Lisa Squire is readying herself to confront evil Pawel Relowicz, 28, as she wants to know precisely what her child’s last moments were like.
The brave mum is drawing up a list of questions to ask the sex fiend, locked up for life in February last year for killing the 21-year-old in Hull in 2009.
Lisa said: “He still shows no remorse. He’s said he doesn’t want to talk about what happened that night and he’s still saying he didn’t kill her.
“I don’t hate him. I have no feelings towards him at all. I just want to know what happened to my daughter and he’s the only person who can tell me.”
Philosophy undergraduate Libby had been refused entry to a nightclub and was intoxicated when she was picked up by Relowicz from the street.
Seven weeks later her body was found in the Humber estuary. Not knowing what happened haunts Lisa.
She said: “I want to know when she got in the car was she warm, was she crying, was she asking for me? All those little questions because they are the last few minutes of my daughter’s life.
“I would love to know how she died, how he killed her, how he took her body to the river.
“Did she go in head first, feet first? It sounds hideous but all those questions go around my mind constantly.”
Relowicz has agreed to meet his victim’s mum as part of a restorative justice scheme. Lisa says she is planning to challenge his version of events.
He claimed in court Libby approached him, saying: “Hey man, I need help.” But Lisa said: “I know how my daughter
would talk and she would not say that. I also want to tell him that we share a birthday, so every birthday I now think about him sitting in prison.”
Since finding out Relowicz was a serial sex offender and voyeur, Lisa has been fighting for change in how such so-called “lowlevel” crimes are seen and dealt with, to recognise the risk of sex offenders escalating to murder.
She has spoken to police forces and ex-Prime Minister Boris Johnson and is taking part in a three-part Sky TV series about Libby’s murder.
The maternity nurse, from High Wycombe, Bucks, said: “We have got to treat them far more seriously if we are to avoid future crimes happening. Sex crimes are not ‘low level’.
“We have to change the language. These are preventable crimes.” Officers
she spoke to felt bad about not being able to prevent Lisa’s death, she claimed.
She said: “I can’t change what happened but hopefully I can stop it happening again.” Lisa added she felt pride in the fact her daughter played a part in getting a dangerous man off the streets.
She said: “Nobody else will be hurt by him because of her. Yes, her life was taken, but it was almost for a higher purpose.” And she’s convinced Libby is guiding her to carry on fighting. She said: “Opportunities have arisen and I think, ‘Well, that’s what Libby wants me to do’. She guides me constantly.”
