Tyler has last laugh for Lions

-

FORGET Boris Johnson, the most vilified man returning to London yesterday was Jed Wallace.

The West Brom winger was already receiving plenty of stick on his old Millwall manor when he inflamed the situation by celebrating his assist for John Swift’s 20th-minute opener.

But the Millwall supporters were celebrating after Tyler Burey’s scuffed 90th-minute winner lifted Gary Rowett’s side up to fifth.

Callum Styles hit the 38th-minute leveller, after Kyle Bartley dismissal five minutes from time opened the door for a crowd-pleasing finale.

Rowett said: “If you are going to whip the crowd up with a celebration you have to desperately hope your team wins rather than loses. To win it in the 90th minute was really sweet.”

The visitors took the lead when Wallace raced clear down the right and picked out Swift who saw his shot deflect off Jake Cooper and into the corner of the net.

Styles levelled when he pounced on a half-cleared free-kick to bounce the ball over keeper Alex Palmer.

Burey saw one effort ruled out for offside before Bartley picked up his second yellow for pulling back Benik Afobe.

The Lions took advantage of the extra space with Mason Bennet teeing up Burey.

Baggies interim boss Richard Palmer said: “It is disappointing the nature of the goals. I thought we were hard done by. It was never a foul for the free-kick.”
