Dawson firmly in job frame as he takes care of business
HULL caretaker boss Andy Dawson insists he has not discussed taking the job on a permanent basis after his team racked up a second successive away win.
Turkish owner Acun Ilicali is expected to announce the new main man in the next few days but three wins in five have made Dawson a big favourite among the Tigers support.
Dawson has not spoken to vice-chairman Tan Kesler about the role, saying: “I
speak to Tan every day and after the games and we focus on the performance.
“That has never been part of the conversation.”
Defender Jacob Greaves stabbed the Tigers ahead with his first senior goal in his 101st league appearance but Dan Barlaser’s excellent finish had Rotherham level at half-time.
Cyrus Christie raced past Lee Peltier and fired Hull’s second. Jean Michael Seri then brilliantly opened up the Rotherham defence for Greaves to tee up Ryan Longman for the third and picked out sub Ozan Tufan for a decorative fourth.
Millers sub Georgie Kelly pulled one back late on.
Dawson said: “I was gutted for the boys just before half-time so we had to get them in, calm them down, take the emotions away from them and get them to stick to the plan.
“In the second half we were a joy to watch.”
Millers boss Matt Taylor said: “It was a tough day.
“We were second best from start to finish.” ROTHERHAM: Johansson 6; Harding 4, Wood 4, Peltier 4 (Bramall (63) 5), Norton-Cuffy 6 (Hall (60) 6); Barlaser 6, Wiles 5 (High (60) 6), Ferguson 5, Rathbone 5 (Odoffin (46) 5); Washington 5 (Kelly (63) 6), Eaves 6
