Labour demands Home Sec risk ratings
NIGEL NELSON Political Editor LABOUR is to ratchet up the pressure on Rishi Sunak to sack his “leaky” Home Secretary Suella Braverman.
Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper plans to use Parliamentary procedures to force ministers to share risk assessments of Ms Braverman’s alleged security lapses.
Ms Cooper will also demand the PM reveals what he knew before reappointing her six days after she was forced to resign for sending confidential information on immigration by personal email.
Ms Braverman’s claim that she reported the error to Cabinet Secretary Simon Case immediately has been disputed.
So far she has dodged Labour scrutiny by sending junior ministers to the Commons in her place.
Ms Cooper said: “Rishi Sunak and Suella Braverman cannot keep running away from these questions.”
Meanwhile, the Home Office will today announce it is overhauling the
UK’s counterterror strategy.
