Autumn leaves out the chill as warm weather continues
AUTUMN felt more like spring yesterday as much of the country basked in balmy temperatures.
In London, the thermometer tipped 23C – and the unseasonably mild weather is set to stick around for the next few days.
Much of the country will experience highs of 17C today.
But by Tuesday, when wet weather starts to creep in, the temperatures will drop a little to the mid teens. The warm weather is being caused by a plume of heat from North Africa that has been pulled into a jet stream passing over the UK and western Europe.
Just over three months ago, Britain experienced its hottest day on record when 40.3C was recorded on July 19. Similar records were broken in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.
