UN to probe Iran horror
THE United Nations will this week discuss how to hold credible investigations into Iran’s alleged human rights abuses.
The move follows protests in the country over the death of Mahsa Amini, 22, in the custody of the country’s morality police last month.
Tens of thousands of people joined demos on Wednesday. At first, they focused on the statemandated hijab for women but quickly grew into calls for the downfall of Iran’s Islamic-led government.
At least 270 people have been killed and 14,000 arrested in protests in 125-plus Iranian cities, the group Human Rights Activists claims.
