Kop result may not save boss

- BY ROSS HEPPENSTALL

JESSE MARSCH has spent the past week or so telling anyone who would listen that the Leeds United board remain steadfastly behind him.

The problem for the American, though, is that the majority of Leeds supporters appear to have made up their minds.

They want Marsch gone – and they want him gone now.

Even last night’s 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield won’t change that – but it will give him some breathing space.

When you lose the backing of a fan base as vociferous as Leeds United’s, it is only a matter of time before the board pull the trigger.

Leeds followers are a savvy bunch, by and large, but they do not take any prisoners.

As they bluntly say in Yorkshire, “I’ll say what I like and I like what I bloody well say”.

So the opposition from the terraces towards Marsch is still growing – and there will come a point where it becomes unbearable.
