Mane the master in Bayern romp

-

SADIO MANE was one of six scorers as Bayern Munich romped to a 6-2 victory over Mainz to move top of the Bundesliga.

Julian Nagelsmann’s side have been steadily improving after a shaky start to the season.

And ex-Liverpool star Mane was at the heart of the rout. He missed a penalty, but scored the rebound, before setting up two more.

Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala and Mane had Bayern coasting.

Silvan Widmer hit back for Mainz but Bayern were back in the box seat when Leon Goretzka pounced.

Teenager Mathys Tel struck again for Bayern and despite Marcus Ingvartsen, the hosts had the final say via Eric Choupo-Moting. Bayern are now two points clear although Union Berlin can return to the summit by beating Borussia Monchengladbach today.

In France, leaders Paris Saint-Germain were made to sweat before beating Troyes 4-3 at the Parc des Princes. Lionel Messi (left), Kylian Mbappe and Neymar were among the scorers.

Serie A leaders Napoli marched on as a Victor Osimhen treble saw off Sassuolo 4-0. Juventus beat Lecce 1-0.

Atletico Madrid, who failed to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages, lost 3-2 at La Liga strugglers Cadiz.
