Portsmouth 1 Shrewsbury 1

-

DANNY COWLEY felt Portsmouth “lacked guile and creativity” as they were held to a draw at Fratton Park.

Zak Swanson’s first senior goal salvaged a point after Elliott Bennett had opened the scoring against his former club.

Cowley added: “Like anyone who is associated with this club, it is frustrating. I’ve rarely seen a more one-sided game.

“They played 5-4-1, sitting people behind the ball, which they are entitled to do. But we need to be good enough to overcome that and we didn’t have the quality.”

Shrewsbury boss Steve Cotterill said: “It’s an excellent point for us. I thought the boys were incredible.”
