Rosenior’s toothless Tigers made a meal of it says boss

- PRESTON By DARREN WITCOOP

HULL boss Liam Rosenior admitted he let Preston off the hook in a goalless draw at the MKM Stadium.

The home side wasted a string of first-half chances to put themselves out of sight against the struggling Lilywhites.

“We should have been three-nil up at half-time,” he said.

“I asked for a reaction after they weren’t at the levels in midweek and I got it. I know it’s frustrating. We want to win games of football but you only win it with a consistent level of football and especially in the first half they couldn’t live with it. Another day, out of sight by half-time.”

Early on Dimitrios Pelkas failed to pick out an unmarked Oscar Estupinan in front of an empty net, then the Colombian had a tame drive turned around the post by Freddie Woodman.

On the stroke of the break, Greg Docherty barged his way into the box only for Woodman to divert his close-range strike over the bar.

Woodman again came to the rescue soon after the restart, blocking an Alfie Jones shot with his feet after Preston failed to clear a Pelkas corner.

Lilywhites were better after the restart. Sub Troy Parrott blasted inches wide then Brad Potts volleying over from six yards.

PNE Boss Ryan Lowe said: “Overall it was a good point – particularly on the road but that first half wasn’t us.”
