The major social media companies must do more to combat harmful content on their platforms

stopped speaking to Thomas Sr after he was exposed co-operating for paparazzi pictures and then missed her wedding to Harry in May 2018 after suffering two heart attacks in California in the weeks preceding it.

Meghan was walked down the aisle by Harry’s father King Charles and later told a Netflix show: “I’ve lost my father in this.”

Last month Samantha’s bid to sue Meghan, over comments she made during her and Harry’s 2021 TV interview with Oprah Winfrey, was dismissed. She has filed an appeal against the decision. Thomas Jr embarrasse­d the Duchess in January 2017 when he was arrested after holding a gun to his then-girlfriend’s head. He also wrote an open letter to Harry before their wedding warning him he would regret the nuptials.

In a video posted this week, Thomas Jr defended his right to talk about Meghan and boasted he now plans to cash in further by selling his own range of merchandis­e, including T-shirts, glasses and mugs. He said:

“It’s not just your freedom of speech, Meghan, it’s everybody’s freedom of speech so like if you don’t like it, don’t watch, right. I’m gonna be riding those coattails baby! Oh yeah, if it wasn’t for Meghan Markle I don’t know what I’d be doing.”

We reported the content to the US-owned social media giant. YouTube guidelines say “harassment and cyberbully­ing are not allowed”. It claims to delete millions of videos each year for breaking its rules.

It also says it has “clear policies” to prohibit content targeting an individual with prolonged or malicious insults or threats based on certain attributes. Thomas Jr has more than 36,000 subscriber­s on the site. YouTube declined to comment.
