Koeman’s El raiser!

BAD BOY COMES GOOD FOR SAINTS

-

owner Mike Ashley to make a decision soon.

“It’s three weeks into the process now and they really need to do something,” he said.

Carver went on: “It’s no disgrace to lose to a side third in the table. We dominated possession but we only managed three shots on target. They had three on target too but scored two goals f r om them.”

Saints are not reading the Premier League script. They were supposed to have faded away by now but three successive Premier League wins – and three successive away wins in a week counting the midweek FA Cup tie at Ipswich – suggest this is a side here to stay.

England keeper Fraser Forster, six y ears with Newcastle without getting a sniff of a first-team shirt, earned t he applause of the visiting fans with a good save from Ayoze Perez in the 12th minute.

But a minute l ater t he Northumberland- born star was happy to be directly in line with a blockbuster of a shot from Gouffran.

However his opposite number Krul wasn’t so lucky in the 14th minute after Graziano Pelle had headed on a long ball from Jose Fonte and James Ward- Prowse threaded it through.

Elia was onto it in a flash and his shot appeared to go through Krul into the net.

One win in seven matches is a bodyblow to Newcastle fans who were told last week’s promising performance at Chelsea hinted at better times ahead.

Toon did go for it in the closing minutes, which would have pleased Carver, and could easily have won a late penalty when a shot from substitute Emmanuel Riviere was stopped by the arm of Fonte, the ref deeming it accidental.
