Mack The Knife shows his teeth

-

MARC McNULTY is aiming for an illustrious hat-trick against Tottenham after confessing he is getting fond of hearing his own name.

Scottish striker McNulty netted the winner to knock Southampton out of the Capital One Cup last month and earn Sheffield United a semi-final showdown with Spurs, then also struck the opener in the 3-0 FA Cup win at QPR a fortnight ago.

Now the 22-year-old is keen to hear the travelling Blades fans acclaim their own Mack The Knife in song for a third time in quick succession.

“I still have to pinch myself sometimes playing in front of 20,000 people in matches like these,” said McNulty, who signed from Livingston last summer.

“To hear them singing my name after scoring a goal against a team from the Premier League is a dream come true.

“It’s the kind of thing you think about doing as a young boy.”

The League One club won McNulty over last year with their cup exploits and, although they lost to Hull in the FA Cup semifinal at Wembley, their appetite for cup shocks has not diminished.

Five top-flight teams have been scalped in the past 13 months, so Spurs have been warned.

“I watched a lot of the their games last season on TV,” said McNulty, United’s 10-goal leading scorer. “I was a bit jealous but hopefully we can continue the run we have had.

“You have to show these kind of teams respect because they’re from the Premier League – but that’s as far as it goes.”
