He knocked over his first threepoint­er (left) after nine minutes and although Racing centre Johann Goosen levelled matters shortly afterwards, Farrell’s second penalty gave Sarries a lead they never lost again.

Racing tried to shake up the fly-half. Welsh second row Luke Charteris had a crack at Farrell with a dangerous-looking tackle that left him on the deck. He was shaken but not stirred.
