SHOCK NEW JAIL VIDEO
A knife brazenly wielded, drugs weighed on a scale ..and filmed on a mobile
*I’m still dealing drugs in prison
A DRUG pusher has been filmed waving a fearsome knife while weighing out a batch of narcotics to peddle INSIDE prison.
The shocking footage was taken by another inmate who is serving a 28-month sentence for dealing cocaine.
Brazen captions on the 22- second clip include “Yhh man stil juggin inda jail house” – jugging being criminal slang for making money from drugs.
The v i deo, obtained exclusively by the Sunday People, is the latest evidence of mounting drug use and violence in jails.
Last night the Ministry of Justice described it as totally unacceptable and t he Metropolitan Police launched a criminal investigation.
Our revelation will pile fresh pressure on Justice Secretary Michael Gove, who last week admitted some prisons are unsafe.
He refused to comment on our footage but Labour’s shadow justice minister Jo Stevens said: “It’s a scandal.”
And an experienced prison officer warned: “It’s only a matter of time before a member of staff is killed.”
Heroin
The film was made on a contraband mobile phone in a jail in London.
The clip was put on a social media account believed to be run by Jacob Kakala, 21, who is serving a 28-month sentence for dealing cocaine.
The wannabe rapper was previously jailed for three and a half years after accidentally shooting himself with a gun when high on cannabis.
While the knife is being waved as weighing scales and what appear to be drugs are shown, a man believed to be Kakala can be heard telling his pal: “Come on, show me what you’re working with.”
After the other inmate waves him away in a bid to stop him filming his face, Kakala says: “No face, no case yeah, serious.”
Captions on the video illustrate the alarming reality of life in Britain’s crisis-hit jails.
They include: “Everybody’s bad n everybody’s on joints”, “Dis is jail U kno how it goes” and “Yhh man stil juggin inda jail house.”
In a second prison video, also posted on a Snapchat account believed to be run by Kakala, there is a packet of legal highs called Holy Smokes as well as what appears to be cannabis.
Showing a package to the camera, another inmate says: “Don’t smoke this shit kids yeah. Look at it, look what it says...Holy Smokes.
“Smoke this s*** and you’ll look like my man dead right up in the sky bruv.” Showing what appears to be cannabis, Kakala allegedly boasts: “Know what we’re smoking on man... cheese, come on, come on.” Cheese is common criminal slang for heroin, but can also mean a combination of drugs.
Labour’s shadow justice minister Jo Stevens said: “This footage of prisoners with a weapon and huge quantities of drugs inside a London prison is absolutely disgraceful.
“Under the Tories we’ve seen rocketing levels of drug use, violence and injuries in our prisons while the numbers of prison staff have been cut by about a third.
“What does it take to get the Government to act? The Tories can talk all they like about prison reform but the fact is our prisons are understaffed, overcrowded and in crisis.”
The chief executive of the Howard League for Penal Reform, Frances Crook, said: “These videos are illustrations of the urgent need for reform of a system that is failing prisoners, staff and the public. There are too many prisoners and too few staff. The rising number of assaults, suicides and incidents of self- injury show the problems are getting worse.”
Murders
Prison officers’ association spokesman Glyn Travis said: “These videos are a demonstration of a prison service in total crisis.
“Mr Gove only has to look at the ten murders of prisoners by prisoners inside
our jails and the death of a prison officer in the last 18 months.”
An experienced prison officer spoke out about the deteriorating state of life behind bars.
Talking on condition of anonymity, he said: “This video is a really shocking example of what prison staff already know goes on but sadly haven’t got the resources to stop.
“They have been told by the high-ups to get on with things and not rock the boat but they know things are at breaking point.
“Prisons are understaffed and overcrowded and it’s a serious threat to the safety of both staff and inmates.
“Another officer recently told me he goes to work each day not sure if he’s going to make it home safe at the end of his shift.”
The whistleblower, who has worked at two of Britain’s biggest jails during a 30-year prison career, added: “There are now 7,000 fewer prison officers than in 2010 while there are 2,500 more prisoners. Gangsgs have been able to take control.
“Staff simply don’t on’t have the resources to stem the he tide. They desperately need moreore funding.
“If things carry onn as they are, it’s only a matter of time before a member of staff is killed.” illed.”
The Sunday People ple has revealed a string of f leaked videos showing the anarchy in our jails in recent months. Our latest emerges just days after a study by MPs showedsh prison safety in Engl England and Wales urgently needs improving. BBC news bulletins last week sh showed footage of prison prisoners a t HMP Wandsw Wandsworth i n South London sm smoking cannabis open openly on the wings, d drones delivering drugs directly to cell windows and rival gangs fighting in the yard over drug supplies.
Commenting on our video, a Prison Service spokesperson said: “This behaviour is totally unacceptable.
“We have identified those involved and we will push for the strongest punishment which could include additional time on their sentences.
“We have had a social media account shut down and the police are investigating.
“As the Prime Minister and Justice Secretary have said, our prisons are in need of reform.
“That is why we are investing £1.3billion over the next five years to support rehabilitation and tackle bullying, violence and drugs.”
