Crisp price crunched
SUPERMARKETS are slashing crisp prices to revive sales as Brits turn to snacks such as tortillas.
Multi-packs are down an average 6 per cent over the past year while “sharing” bags dropped 4 per cent, says analyst Brand View.
The sales value of Walkers crisps, promoted by Gary Lineker, fell 4.9 per cent, to £504million.
US food firm Kettle Chips said “increasingly aggressive” promotions are putting “huge pressure on margins.”
