Biker killed in crash at pre-TT race
A MOTORCYCLIST has died in a crash at the pre-TT races on the Isle of Man.
Dean Martin, 58, was involved in a collision on the Billown Course during the 850cc Classic practice session on Friday evening.
Organisers Southern 100 Racing said another rider – Jamie O’Brien, from Liverpool – and two course marshals were also injured.
Mr O’Brien was in a serious but stable condition at Aintree Hospital in Liverpool last night.
One course marshal was receiving treatment at Aintree for head injuries, while the second was treated for ankle and shoulder injuries at Noble’s Hospital on the island.
Mr Martin, from Santon on the Isle of Man, was a long- time competitor on classic and modern bikes.
The organisers said: “Southern 100 Racing extends it sincere condolences. We are carrying out a full investigation.” A LIFEBOAT rescue team pulled a leather sofa from the sea after it was seen bobbing about posing a risk to boats off the Kent coast.
