Net lodger nicks £3k

A HOMEOWNER who rented a room to a stranger on a “sofa- surfing” site awoke yesterday morning to find belongings worth £3,000 had been stolen.

Police warned people letting rooms online that they may be at risk of being targeted by thieves.

The man booked the room in Manchester for Friday night and legged it with a computer, camera, watch and money.

A police spokesman said: “The victim’s trust was grossly abused.”
