Pilot killed in air crash

A VINTAGE plane from the Second World War has crashed, killing the pilot.

The single- seater P- 47 Thunderbolt, which was seen smoking and listing to one side, plunged into the Hudson River between New York and New Jersey on Friday.

Pilot Bill Gordon, 56, was found by divers that night.

The plane was taking part in a promo video for the American Airpower Museum’s 75th anniversary.

Investigators initially suspect engine failure.
