Hope of new inquests into pub bombings

-

NEW inquests may be held over the 1974 Birmingham pub blasts after a claim that security services knew the bombings would take place.

Birmingham coroner Louise Hunt will rule on Wednesday whether to open new hearings into the 21 killed by the IRA.

She has held several reviews, in which victims’ families have claimed security services were m t warned of the attacks on two pubs. Julie Hambleton, leader of the Justice4the21 campaign, said: “All we want now is the truth.”

Inquests started after the deaths were not completed a mon asses following the jailing of the Birmingham Six, freed in 1991 after their convictions were ruled unsafe.

One of the six, Paddy Joe Hill, backs the campaign for fresh inquests.
