Sarries win puts England in Goode light

- BSya AradcaemnsHathaway by Adam Hathaway

SARRIES boss Mark McCall saw his side do the double then tried to sell Eddie Jones a dummy about Alex Goode’s summer in Australia.

Goode turned in yet another Man of the Match display as Saracens made history and he was tipped to have a crack at the Aussies by playing for England next month.

The full-back scored the try that nailed the game and made Sarries the first English side to win the Premiership and European Cups in the same season since Lawrence Dallaglio’s mighty Wasps in 2004.

Goode chucked in yet another 10-out-of-10 display at Twickenham, with Owen Farrell, George Kruis and Billy Vunipola not far behind.

Europe’s best team did not have their own way though as Exeter battled back from 20 points down to make it a three-point game with four minutes left until Goode struck.

Goode was recently named Premiership Player of the Year but he has played second fiddle behind Mike Brown for England in the Six Nations matches.

But Goode’s boss reckons the selection for the first Test in Brisbane on June 11 is a no-brainer and his man should be Eddie Jones’ man.

McCall said: “He has played like that all season. He is by miles the best full-back in England.

“But if I say that he will pick him then he probably won’t – so I will say Mike Brown should start that Test match then Eddie might give Alex a chance.”
