Lineker: Kane can be our Schillaci

GARY LINEKER knows all too well that anything is possible on the big stage after seeing Toto Schillaci light up the Italia 90 World Cup.

And 26 years on former England striker Lineker reckons Euro 2016 is calling out for one of Roy Hodgson’s young lions to announce themselves to the football world.

But he won the Golden Boot, with six goals helping Italy to a third place 2-1 victory over England with a late p penalty. Harry Kane and D Dele Alli have been a Premier League revelation fo for Spurs – and Lin Lineker believes they ca can cement that reputation at Euro 2016. “Anyone can become world class at this tournament. It’s a platform for them to become that star.

“Just look at Toto Schillaci in 1990 – who knew him before that? But he became a superstar.”

He added: “It would be good to end with the nation having real hope in this team because we haven’t had that for a long time.”
