Kante’s a bit all over the place

-

In Spain, Cristiano Ronaldo is getting on in years but shows no signs of getting on a plane to come back over here anytime soon. Nor Gareth Bale.

Barcelona’s front three can’t be prised from the Nou Camp. And of the rest, Paul Pogba appears to be staying in Italy. Antoine Griezmann at Atletico.

We’re meant to be grateful that 34-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic – who once said English football was ‘rubbish’ – will be at Old Trafford from August.

Last night, the Swede was proved right – the Champions League final and our best are watching it on the telly. Until we get the best that the game truly has to offer, how can we claim

this is the greatest league? I DON’T know if this is true. I suspect not – but it would be great if it was.

The story goes that during Leicester City’s recent trip to Thailand, head of recruitment Steve Walsh was asked in an interview to explain ‘who played where’ for the new Premier League champions.

“Well,” Walsh said, “we’ve got a pretty solid back four of Kasper Schmeichel in goal, Danny Simpson at right back.

“The centre-halves are Wes Morgan and Robert Huth and Christian Fuchs plays at left back.”

The questioner asks about the midfield.

“Danny Drinkwater and N’Golo Kante (right) play in central midfield.”

And Walsh is then asked who plays either side of that pair.
