MUM 25 PLUNGES 12 FLOORS IN FLATS HORROR

- By Patrick Hill and Gerard Couzens

A MAN was arrested after a British mum plunged 120 feet to her death from a holiday apartment balcony yesterday.

Kerry-Ann Roberts, 25, died instantly after the fall from the 12th floor of the building in Tenerife.

A man who had been with her, her ex-partner David Paul Jones, 33, was arrested while police tried to work out if there was any foul play. He was later released.

Detectives viewed CCTV footage of the two before they entered the block.

Kerry-Ann, from Bristol, was on holiday with her and Mr Jones’s five-year-old daughter plus Mr Jones’s dad and his partner. The tragedy happened at around 2am on Friday in Adeje in the south of the island. Kerry-Ann crashed on to a lawn at the Apartments Paraiso del Sur complex and died instantly.

Her body was found by a security guard after Mr Jones raised the alarm.

Dave Jeal, chaplain of Bristol Rovers, said Kerry’s death had “rocked the community”. He added: “We’re a very tight-knit community where everyone knows everyone. Kerry’s mum is in bits. The family are devastated.”

The flats complex, which overlooks the Atlantic, is a short drive from popular Playa de Las Americas.

The group are believed to have arrived on the island last month.

A spokesman for a local emergency response centre said: “An ambulance, local police and Civil Guard were sent to the location but the woman was dead.”

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are offering assistance to the family of a British woman who has sadly died in Tenerife.”

Last night a Spanish police source said officers had ruled out the arrested Brit’s involvement in the death, which was being treated as a probable suicide.
