Ripper brother: I’m sure he killed more He had the chances... and I don ’t doubt he took them ’

YORKSHIRE Ripper Peter Sutcliffe’s brother believes the serial killer murdered more women – and got away with it.

Carl Sutcliffe, 56, thinks his brother, 70, is guilty of unsolved horrors nationwide.

“If he had the opportunity to do it, I don’t doubt for a second he would,” said Carl.

Sutcliffe was jailed for life in 1981 for murdering 13 women and trying to kill seven more. But the ex-Bradford trucker could face a new trial after police launched a probe into unsolved sex assaults on 13 victims.

DNA evidence could now be crucial, as it did not exist during his trial in 1981.

Carl said: “I’m sure he has killed more women and got away with it. I’m certain he would have had the chances, given his trucking lifestyle.” Sutcliffe drove lorries for years before his arrest in January 1981, his routes taking him across Britain and abroad.

Ex-detective Chris Clark has linked him to unsolved murders like that of housewife Gloria Booth, 29, found strangled in South Ruislip, west London, in 1971.

He was also linked to the killing of teacher Barbara Mayo, 24, found strangled in woods at Ault Hucknall, Derbyshire, in 1970.

Carl said his brother was also suspected of crimes in Italy and Germany.

Former car salesman Carl, who lives in West Yorkshire, added: “There are loads of unsolved cases linked to Peter – not just round here but in the Midlands, London and abroad. I believe he’s guilty of some of them. He was so cold and calculated.

“What would stop him killing more, given the chance? He would never admit to it, though, unless there was hard evidence. That’s not his style.”

West Yorkshire cold case detectives’ review is believed to focus on censored files in a top-level 1982 government report, which was not published until 2006.

Sutcliffe, who now calls himself Coonan, his mother’s maiden name, has been moved from Broadmoor hospital in Berkshire to tough Frankland jail, near Durham, where he told Carl he fears attack.
