Michelle in Our Girl dilemma

- By Nigel Pauley

OUR Girl star Michelle Keegan is undecided on whether to sign up to another series – despite rave reviews for the opening show.

The former Corrie star, who plays Army medic Lance Corporal Georgie Lane, is concerned about spending too much time apart from her husband Mark Wright.

BBC chiefs and writer Steve Grounds are keen to make another series of Our Girl after it attracted nearly four million viewers.

Grounds said: “I’m sure Michelle doesn’t want to be doing it in 10 years but I hope she’ll come back. She was absolutely brilliant.”

Manchester-born Michelle, 29, played Tina McIntyre in Corrie for six years until 2014 and replaced ex-EastEnder Lacey Turner in the lead role in Our Girl.

She has described Our Girl as “the best time ever”. But she spent two months away from her Essex home while filming on location in South Africa and is unsure if she wants to commit to more of the gruelling schedule.

A source said: “Our Girl was originally to be a single series and that’s what Michelle agreed.

“She really enjoyed her time working on the show. It was just the type of meaty role she craved after leaving Coronation Street. It has been a brilliant shop-window for her talents. Basically it will come down to a stark choice of another series or taking work which will enable her to spend more time with Mark.”

Michelle said recently: “I was working six days a week for two months. It will be nice to cook and watch TV in my PJs.”

A BBC spokeswoman said: “It is far to early to discuss whether there’ll be another series.”
