£ 1/2 FOR WRITE MP

- By Alan Selby

TORY MP Nadine Dorries has made half a million quid from churning out novels about her cash-strapped upbringing on a council estate in Liverpool.

Mrs Dorries, 59, will earn a total of £516,444 – about eight times her basic salary as an MP.

The revelation in the Register of Parliamentary Interests comes four years after she was heavily criticised for leaving her Mid-Bedfordshire constituents to take part in TV’s I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! The MP wrote a trilogy, The Four Streets, which was an internet bestseller when the first book came out two years ago.

One critic branded it the worst novel in ten years.

But Mrs Dorries hit back, saying: “You should read the next one. It’s much better”.

A follow-up series, Lovely Lane, follows her first career as a nurse, with the latest book being released in two weeks. According to the parliamentary register, Mrs Dorries will get £13,000 a month from Head of Zeus publishing until 2018.

That comes on top of royalties and advances, including £30,570 for the delivery of a manuscript in March and a £52,280 advance in July.

Mrs Dorries was previously criticised for claiming £80,000 of taxpayers’ cash to hire two daughters as her staff. There is no suggestion rules were broken. AN IT technician, age 37, has been charged with stealing breast milk left by a new mum in the office fridge in Hong Kong. REINDEER meatballs are on the menu as Rudolph’s Balls in the run-up to Christmas at the Jolly Sailor in Canterbury, Kent.
