LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE MOYES!

-

DAVID MOYES hailed the impact of Victor Anichebe as the striker marked his full SUNDERLAND debut by earning the side’s first win of the season.

The 28-year-old, signed on a free after being let go by West Brom, scored and won the Jermain Defoe penalty which brought a 2-1 success at BOURNEMOUTH.

Black Cats boss Moyes said: “I’ve always thought Victor had great ability. He is quick, strong, and good in the air.

“He scored a big first goal and made the winner, and when we were down to 10 men he worked hard to make sure we still had an attacking presence.”

Sergio Aguero scored his 150th goal for MANCHESTER CITY but blamed himself for the club missing out on three points through an added-time MIDDLESBROUGH equaliser through Marten de Roon’s header in the 1-1 draw.

The Argentinian missed a glorious chance five minutes from the end with City 1-0 up. He admitted: “It was a strange match because we controlled the game but I have a bad feeling because we conceded.

“I had many chances, the clearest one was the one where Jesus Navas pulled the ball back to me. It was under my feet and I only had a few seconds to decide. I need to improve on that.

“The Premier League is a complicated competition where anyone can beat you. That showed today.”

BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche refused to get carried away despite his side rising into the top half of the table after the 3-2 win over CRYSTAL PALACE.

Sam Vokes, Johann Gudmundsson and Ashley Barnes grabbed the goals for the Clarets and Dyche said: “Every single win is to be enjoyed but not thought about too deeply as if some kind of magic has happened.

“It feels like we’ve given ourselves a good base.”

Slaven Bilic was left frustrated after WEST HAM let their lead slip in a 1-1 draw with STOKE.

Bojan Krkic cancelled out Glenn Whelan’s own goal and Bilic said: “It was not a very good game from both sides. Nobody deserved to win.”
