After being single for two years, Danny is yet to find love again. “Don’t get me wrong, I am not sat on a dating site every night trying for a girlfriend,” he says. “But if one caught my eye then... Yetet finding the time to get to know w someone at the moment,, given how busy work is, is tough. We lead very busyy lives, working 7am untill 7pm.”

When it comes to online dating and apps like Tinder, Danny i sn’t convinced. d.

“I wouldn’tuldn’t do internet dating forr real,” he says. “I think it would be weird if someone swiped right and ended up on someone’s ’s profile whoho was off f the telly. You would think it was fake wouldn’t you? “I don’t turn my nose up at it, because everyone is different and everyone meets their match in different ways. “But ask me in 10 years’ time and I will probably be all over it! “I just think you get to know someone better face to face. If it doesn’t work and the they think you are a b bit cringey or a b bit corny they wi will walk away an and you don’t se see them again. I think I like t to gauge a reactio reaction face to face.” Despite beingbein one of soap’s bi biggest heartthrob heartthrob­s, Danny is r remarkabl markably self self- deprecatin­g and is convinced many of his co-stars are far better looking than him.

Commenting on his sex symbol status, he says: “It is flattering I guess – congratula­tions to my mum and dad!

“I do try to get in the gym a few times a week to keep everything healthy and working under the bonnet. But there are people like Adam Thomas and Mikey Parr who are much better looking and in much better shape than I am.”

Danny confesses that he doesn’t even like to watch himself on screen, although he has been working on becoming less self-conscious.

“I don’t r eally watch Emmerdale unless it is the really big stuff,” he admits. “I used to get myself into a bad situation looking at myself, and I would think ‘Oh God look at me there’.”

That doesn’t mean he’s thinking of leaving Emmerdale again any time soon. “You don’t know what is round the corner. You could think things are going well then there is a massive storyline where your character ends up dying or going to prison and you are out of the show,” he laughs. “It is not within your power.”

Fans whose lives he has changed – like the woman at the football match – will certainly not want to see him leave. “I love this place,” he says. I have had such a busy three years. I am happy to stay here for however long they’ll have me... and however long I can blag it for!”
