KANE v WILLIAMS IS CLASH OF TITANS

- By Tom Hopkinson

BEN DAVIES has warned his “no-nonsense” Wales pal Ashley Williams and Tottenham team-mate Harry Kane that they are both in for a right old dingdong this afternoon. Williams (left) will go toe-to-toe with Kane as Everton try to close the gap between themselves and the top six. Davies said: “I have played with Ash for years now and he is a top, top defender. For him, his first job is defending, not playing out of defence or anything else, none of the ‘nonsense’ as he would call it. It is going to be a tough game for Harry but I can see him doing it against any defender in the game, so Ash will be in for a tough game as well.

“They are both top players and have played against each other that many times, so they’ll know what they are up against.

“Hopefully Harry can come out on top for us.” Kane and Everton’s Romelu Lukaku are the Premier League’s joint top scorers on 17 goals with Alexis Sanchez.

And while left-back Davies, 23, knows Spurs’ defenders will have to be on their guard against the beastly Belgian, he is relishing the battle.

Davies added: “Lukaku and I are the same age. I’ve played against him a few times now and he’s always a tough opponent. Even if perhaps on his day the goals aren’t coming he’s a serious handful. He is strong and he’s in top form, but it is up to us to do a job on him.”

Not that anyone at Spurs will tell you they would rather Lukaku was leading their line than Kane (right), who hit a third hat-trick of the season in the 4-0 victory over Stoke last week.

Davies added: “I don’t see why Harry won’t win the Golden Boot. He has the drive and the determination to try and do it.”
