CATT’S RECIPE FOR SUCCESS

- By Tom Hopkinson

JACK CATTERALL has promised Martin Gethin there will be plenty of added spice when the pair clash for the WBO InterContinental super-lightweight title in Manchester next month.

And the 23-year-old promises there will be a pinch of Ricky Hatton, a drizzle of Floyd Mayweather Junior, and a splash of Saul Alvarez about him when they meet on April 8.

Catterall, who loves spending his spare time in the kitchen, has trained in Hatton’s gym and has sparred with both Mayweather Junior and Alvarez.

He said: “I’ve taken quite a lot of advice from Ricky, but not only him because I get to go and spar in quite a lot of different gyms all over England.

“In every gym you pick up “When things are going well, Lewis is the most recognisable face on the grid and there are moments when you see the pure enjoyment, the little boy in the man. “As long as that light’s getting little bits but just being around Ricky and other world champions such as Floyd and Canelo (Alvarez), any advice they give you have to take on board.

“Being in the gym with a world champion, you get to see why they are a world champion, you see how much hard work they put in, and why they have achieved what they have.”

Catterall wants one day to open a restaurant, although he insists he has no plans to install himself as head chef.

He added: “I’m quite nervous about cooking for others and quite selfish about my food as well.

“But I love being in the kitchen. At the moment the diet is quite strict – but once I’m out of camp I like to have a play in the kitchen, I quite like experimenting.”
