11 killed in gold mines
ELEVEN miners have been killed at two gold mines in central China.
Eight bodies were found after a fire trapped 18 people at the Qinling pit run by the National Gold Group.
Another worker died in hospital. Two more died as six were trapped in a neighbouring pit in Lingbao.
There is growing anger at the number of industrial accidents caused by China’s poor safety standards.
Yesterday nine people died when a platform collapsed at a power plant.
