Prince’s 6 siblings inherit singer’s £170m fortune

- by James Jam Desborough

PRINCE’S sister and five half-siblings will split his fortune between them, a judge has ruled.

Up to 700 people were said to have made claims on the pop superstar’s estimated £170million estate after he died in April last year without leaving a will.

Most were quickly written off as bogus but around 45 had to be painstakingly checked out, including some from people claiming to be the star’s wife or children.

Prince left only one living fullblood relative, sister Tyka Nelson.

She will inherit alongside halfsiblings Sharon, Norrine and John R Nelson, Omarr Baker and Alfred Jackson, who have the same claim as full relatives under Minnesota law.

The six of them will also get to decide on the business direction of the Purple Rain singer’s estate.

A judge ruled l ast year t hat DNA samples could be taken from Prince’s blood to help investigate some of the other claims, giving those who believe they are related to Prince four months in which to file.

A woman and girl appealing a rejected claim have yet to decide whether to challenge the latest ruling. Carver County District Judge Kevin Eide said he will consider any claimants that are sent back to him by the appeal courts. Prince’s assets will not be distributed until a formal court order is made.

The star, whose hits include U Got the Look with Scottish singer Sheena Easton, was found collapsed in an elevator at his home, Paisely Park, aged 57 after an accidental painkiller overdose.
