Dancing on Ice is back

- By

I have an Aga at home and you’ve got these pads that you put on to the stainless steel top to prevent them from scratching. So I’ve taken them off and I’ve shoved them down my knickers. Dancing on Ice contestant Cheryl Baker finds a novel way to protect herself from injury as she practises for the ITV series, starting in January.

Phillip said: “In summer we meet up together. Holly and I go out quite regularly to chew the fat – Holly knows more about me than most people, and I know more about her.

“We just sit and chat. We trust each other implicitly and that’s really important for all mates. And that’s why it’s fun to go to work.”

Holly and Phillip’s antics on This Morning have seen them become a social media hit, with their fame reaching as far as the US.

Phillip laughed: “One of our new skaters, Alex, is American – she’s from Boston.

“When she got the call asking if she’d like to come over and do it, she showed her family and said, ‘Oh my God I have to do this show, it’s the meme King and Queen presenting it’. This is in Boston. This is the States.”

While Phillip is looking forward to enjoying a few drinks with Holly he insists they will be “well behaved” during Dancing On Ice.

He said: “We don’t do many of those allnighters, they’re always spontaneous. But we won’t be misbehaving that badly on a live prime time show. We’ll be well behaved.”

Holly, who started out as a model, posts weekly updates on her choice of clothes while presenting the show.

Phillip said: “Her outfits will be as beautiful and elegant as they ever are – she will be as elegant and gorgeous as she ever is.” In 2011 Holly handed over the reins to Christine Bleakley, 38. Phillip stayed until the show ended three years later. And the pair are both excited to be back for the relaunch. Phillip said: : “We’ve been talking about it a lot. If Holly olly was here she’d be telling you how ow excited she is... more than for or any other series. “When we were launching it the first time round it was brand new. We had no idea how successful it was going to o be. Everyo Everyone was terrified. d. What if it fails? What if it doesn’t doesn’ work? ““N Now we’re getting tting the enjoyment enjoy of reinventing it and knowing kno what to expect. “It’s a lovely opportunity. And it’s the perfect show to do in winter.” When the show launches on January 7 it will be welcomed by many viewers going cold turkey since the final of BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing. This time around on the ITV show, in a nod to Strictly, legends Jayne Torvill, 60, and Chris Christopher Dean, 59, will lead the judgin judging panel instead of mentoring and helping to devise routines. Jason Gardiner, 46, also r returns as a judge and will be j joined by Ashley Banjo, 29 – who led street dance troupe Diversity to victory in Britain’s G Got Talent in 2009. The show will start earlier and include in the skate- off – rather than tha screening it later in the evening as a previously – so that families can watch the whole episode. And the routines will be choreographed by the professional skaters for the first time. Phillip hopes that will leave Olympic gold medallists Jayne and Christopher free to offer
