Mel to tell Scary Spice to write book about her year of scandal

- By James Desborough

MEL B is ready to cash in on her Hollywood divorce by writing a book about her scandal-packed year.

It is expected to be the Spice Girls star’s “version of events” of her split from film producer Stephen Belafonte. And she expects a multimillion-pound publisher’s advance to ease her finances as she faces legal bills plus a £7million payout.

When she filed for divorce earlier this year Mel, 42, cited “emotional and physical abuse”.

Then in court papers it was alleged she and Belafonte, also 42, had a seven-year sexual relationship with the children’s nanny they employed – Lorraine Gilles, 27.

A friend of Mel said: “She has been making notes and has been approached about a memoir.

Monster

“The last year’s volume of controversy and scandal is enough for most autobiographies.

“Mel doesn’t want to hold back. Belafonte wants a gag clause on ever being discussed by Mel publicly. That will be fought over. Mel doesn’t want to be restricted.

“It could still be a monster hit, given what else has happened.”

This week Mel signed with talent agency WME in Los Angeles “to get work to generate income”.

Her 2003 autobiography Catch a Fire was a hit but the past 14 years have added a mountain of material that fans will be keen to read.

Mel has dated several women, including a three-year “marriage” to film producer Christine Crokos.

Soon after that she got pregnant during a fling with Eddie Murphy, which led to a court t battle over the paternity of daughter aughter Angel, now ten.

Murphy paid Mel a £7million settlement.

Mel also had daughter ughter Phoenix, now 18, with h first husband, Jimmy Gulzar. zar.

Ten years ago she married Belafonte. Their daughter Madison was born in 2011.

The friend added: “Mel’s Mel’s fiery nature means she has enjoyed fall-outs with many stars.

“The Spice Girls are e still squabbling over their heir comeback. The material rial is vast and the interest would be global.

“The money for the book would cover what at she will be handing to her ex in the short term.”
