I’m Scho like all the fans

EXCITED Phillip Schofield helped ITV win the battle of the broadcasters.

The giddy presenter was just like all the other fans as he waved at the happy couple in their carriage and whipped out his phone to take pictures – forgetting his telly duties.

And Phillip, 56, let it be known that he was desperate for something stronger than the tea he was drinking on more than one occasion.

The This Morning favourite even called George Clooney a silver fox.

Phillip’s laid-back approach was a hit and he and Julie Etchingham made a great team – delivering an informative yet entertaining performance. Their rivals at the BBC failed to hit the same note.

X Factor presenter Dermot O’leary and Desert Island Discs’ Kirsty Young fronted their coverage – a strange pairing on paper and on screen.

The usually adept Dermot looked out of place in Windsor – mumbling, fidgeting and slouching through the broadcast.

On Sky, Kay Burley stumbled across a not-so-happy punter. When she asked why he was there, he replied: “My friend forced me to come.”

All channels went with a more modern approach compared to previous royal wedding coverage.

They tended to favour presenters from current popular entertainment TV shows.
