ROYAL LOVE MATCH
NEWLYWEDS Prince Harry and Meghan are heading back to Wimbledon this summer – the place that served up their royal romance.
The pair are hoping to cheer on their good pal Serena Williams, weeks after she came to support them at their star-studded wedding.
A source said: “Meghan loves tennis and is a huge fan of the Wimbledon championships.
“She and Harry are really busy but hope they can make it to SW19.”
Meghan was spotted at Wimbledon in 2016, sitting seats away from Harry’s ex Cressida Bonas and Pippa Middleton – her future sister-in-law’s sis.
Harry’s childhood friend Violet von Westenholz, a PR boss at Ralph Lauren, looked after the actress at the match, getting her all the VIP perks.
Violet then played matchmaker, sorting out Harry and Meghan’s first date at private members club Soho House days later.
Sauces
The pair started dating that summer. Harry, 33, and Meghan, 36, made their first ever public appearance together last September watching a wheelchair tennis match at the Invictus Games in Canada.
And he gave her some sporty bling on their wedding night – a £15,000 diamond tennis bracelet.
There are plans for it to be a double date in the Royal Box at Wimbledon this July, with Prince William and Kate joining them.
The source said: “Kate is a regular as Patron of the All England Club with Prince William so if they can find a day convenient for them all it’s likely they’ll all come at least once on the same day.”
Former world No1 Serena, 36, became chummy with Meghan in 2014 at a charity football match.
Speaking about their friendship, Meghan said: “We hit it off immediately, laughing through the flag football game we were playing in and chatting not about tennis or acting but about all the good old-fashioned girly stuff.
“We are both the same age, have a penchant for hot sauces and adore fashion but what connects us more is our belief in exceeding expectations – our endless ambition.”
Serena is aiming to win her eighth Wimbledon title just ten months after giving birth to daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.
The new Duke and Duchess of Sussex may also cheer on Roger Federer, who was a fellow guest at Pippa Middleton’s wedding last year. on with their charitable work and mission to make life better for those less fortunate.”
British Consul General Michael Howells, hosting a Royal Wedding Afternoon Tea with the British American Business Council, hinted that a visit is likely.
He said: “Their charitable contribution is going to be a really huge part of their lives.
“People are just fascinated by them. That very glaring spotlight, even in a very bright place like Hollywood, will cut through and give us an opportunity to explain what modern Britain looks like. This is a very modern marriage and modern wedding.”
Mr Howells said America has been captivated by Meghan’s rise from Hollywood actress and activist to a British princess. He added: “The romance is a beautiful love story and Americans are high fans, great suckers for a beautiful love story, particularly in the heart of Hollywood and Los Angeles where Megan Markle is from.”
