REALITY TV PAL JASMINE I tried to save Love Island Sophie

JASMINE Lennard has told how she tried to help Sophie Gradon as the Love Island star sank into a deep depression. Following Sophie’s suspected suicide, Jasmine, 32, who was in 2012’s Celebrity Big Brother, said: “I did everything I could to help her. “I booked her a ticket to LA a couple of months ago. “I just wanted to get her away from everything for a minute and help her get well.” Former Miss GB Sophie, 32, was in the 2016 series and shared the first Love Island lesbian kiss. She was found dead at her family home on Wednesday.

Jasmine said: “Despite all my efforts I still sit here now wondering what more I could’ve done.”

She accused the ITV2 show of failing to give “aftercare” to the contestant­s. Stars of the current series were told about the tragedy off air.

Jasmine, who has appeared in celebrity spin-offs of Come Dine With Me and the Weakest Link, tweeted: “There is a MASSIVE come down after these shows and no aftercare.

“Hard to explain but it’s a high doing them then suddenly it’s over. Depression over expectatio­ns that don’t materialis­e. You feel low. Compare yourself to fellow contestant­s achievemen­ts etc.”

But past and present stars insist the Bafta-winning show does provide care when hopefuls leave the island.

Rosie Williams, 26, who left the villa this week, yesterday said the show had been on hand every step of the way.

She said: “I’ve been on an emotional roller-coaster in there. The support was constantly there and we had access to a psychologi­st whenever we needed it. And it doesn’t stop now I’ve left, they say I can access support for the rest of my life.”
