STRICTLY EX-HATED

- By Janine Yaqoob TV EDITOR and Olivia Buxton

STRICTLY Come Dancing legend Len Goodman has confessed that splitting up with the hit show is still hard to take.

Lovable Len put down his scorecard for the last time in 2016, after 12 glittering years as head judge.

He is impressed with his replacement Shirley Ballas, 57, but still thinks watching her in the hot seat is like seeing your ex partnered with another man.

Len, 74, admitted: “It’s a bit like splitting up with a girlfriend.

“It’s the right thing to do but then you see the girl with another geezer and you think, ‘That was my girl’.”

But Len insisted he has no regrets about quitting and ruled out a comeback. He said: “It was wonderful, I enjoyed it and eventually it’s hard to think of things to say about the foxtrot.

is all supposition really. Who knows?” Brendan, partnered with Charlotte Hawkins on the last series, hinted in January his “disrespectful” treatment of Shirley may have proved a spat too far.

He said: “I’m sure I’ll never know the ins and outs.

“I’m a strong character within the show, I have my strong views. Some like it, some don’t.”

Since leaving Strictly, Len has continued appearing on the US equivalent Dancing With The Stars.

But his dance show days may be numbered as he has one more year on his contract – and doesn’t have a TV job lined up after his game show flop. But Len has not let the axing of his BBC show Partners in Rhyme get him down. Contestants were partnered with celebrities to take part in rhyming challenges. Len said: “It didn’t work. Who knows? Suck it and see, eh. I enjoyed doing it, I had such a laugh, lovely celebrities. It was good, it was fun but anyway, it can’t be helped. “I don’t have any more game shows lined up after that one.” Until a new project comes along Len says he’s happy spending time with his family. He has another grandchild on the way. “My wife Sue is the best girl in the world. She puts ups with me. She’s lovely. She does most things and I sit and watch. “There is another grandchild on the way in September. I don’t know why we bother with children – we should go straight in with the grandkids. The grandchildren are wonderful.”
