Minister quits over sex texts 2,000 SORDID MESSAGES TO BARMAIDS

- By Alan Selby and Nicola Small

A MARRIED Tory minister resigned in disgrace yesterday after bombarding two barmaids with 2,000 sordid texts.

Andrew Griffiths, 47, used his work phone to detail his depraved fantasies.

He demanded explicit photos and lesbian sex videos from Imogen Treharne, 28, and her pal in exchange for cash.

The minister for small businesses sent the perverted messages over a three-week period.

He boasted he had beaten women during sex sessions and bragged that his powerful position was an “aphrodisiac” which made him hard to resist.

In one message he said: “Daddy has been up making speeches and running the country. But what he really wants to be doing is licking naughty girls.”

Mr Griffiths, previously Theresa May’s chief of staff, made payments to the two women totalling £717.

The pair, both his constituents, cut ties with him a week ago, claiming his sex talk was becoming increasingly aggressive.

Last night Imogen said: “I’m not saying I’m innocent. I thought we could have a conversation and if I found him charming, funny or interesting we could speak on a different level.

“He never showed any element of that. He only wanted to talk about sex. I wanted him to be a nice guy but by the end I felt dirty. I felt I was being used for this wealthy man’s gratification.”

Mr Griffiths has quit as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Small Business and referred himself to his party’s ethics committee.

In a statement he said: “I entirely accept that pending this investigation it is right the Whip is withdrawn.” His resignation came after it emerged he offered to rent a flat so he could meet up with the girls for a threesome.

Mr Griffiths, who has campaigned to have more women elected to Parliament, responded to a racy video Imogen posted on Snapchat in June, just two months after his daughter was born.

She and her pal, who asked to remain anonymous, engaged in sex chat with him.

They all took part in a group message in which a threesome was discussed.

Mr Griffiths sent an image of himself in bed and asked if he could please himself while they talked. The MP for Burton and Uttoxeter talked degradingly to the women on social media over the weeks.

He also boasted of his ties to celebrity pals Katie Price and Katherine Jenkins.

And he shared snaps from a private area in Buckingham Palace, claiming he was meeting Prince Charles.

Mr Griffiths has previously had an unsettling experience at the hands of web trolls who told his wife Kate they hoped her baby would die. He has urged parents to teach children “good internet habits that protect them from seeing inappropriate content”.

Last night Mr Griffiths said: “I wish to apologise to my constituency association and to the people I am honoured to represent.

“I do not seek to excuse my behaviour and will be seeking professional help to ensure it never happens again.”
