5 lags a day need medical treatment for Spice use

FIVE lags a day were being given medical treatment at one of our biggest jails after using Spice.

There were 150 of the zombie drug emergencie­s in a month at HMP Oakwood, Staffs.

A source said: “This is causing intolerabl­e strain on the healthcare system.”

The figures emerged after the Sunday People told how the drug problem at Holme House jail, Co Durham, was so bad nurses were pulled out over safety fears.

The monthly toll at Oakwood revealed in a report by inspectors. It warned: “53 per cent of prisoners said drugs were easily available and all indicators pointed to a problem with new psyan choactive substances.
